Ladki Bahin Scheme e-KYC Deadline Over: 80 Lakh Women Dropped From Updated List

Latest Update: The Maharashtra government has confirmed April 30, 2026 as the final e-KYC deadline for Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana. No further extension is being offered. Around 80 lakh women have been removed from the beneficiary list after missing the cutoff.

At a Glance

  • The Ladki Bahin Scheme e-KYC deadline ended on April 30, 2026. No new extension has been announced.
  • Around 80 lakh women were removed from the scheme for not completing e-KYC on time.
  • Active beneficiaries now stand at approximately 1.66 crore, down from an initial 2.46 crore.

If you have been receiving ₹1,500 every month under the Ladki Bahin Scheme and skipped the e-KYC process, your name is most likely off the list now. The Maharashtra government has closed the Ladki Bahin Scheme e-KYC deadline without any further extension, and the numbers are significant. Around 80 lakh women have been dropped. That is not a small figure.

This was not a sudden move. The government had extended the deadline four times already. Still, millions of women could not complete the process in time.

What is the Ladki Bahin Scheme

Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana is a direct benefit transfer scheme run by Maharashtra’s Mahayuti government. Eligible women aged 21 to 65 years from economically weaker sections receive ₹1,500 per month directly into their bank accounts.

The scheme is managed by the Maharashtra Women and Child Development Department. The official portal is ladakibahin.maharashtra.gov.in.

Why e-KYC Was Required

The government made e-KYC mandatory to clean up the beneficiary database. The goal was to verify real identities and remove people who should not have been in the system at all.

That includes government employees, income tax filers, and in some reported cases, men who had been fraudulently enrolled. The government’s logic was simple: prove your identity, or lose the ₹1,500.

Fair enough on paper. But for women in rural areas without smartphones or proper banking access, completing an online process is genuinely difficult.

Ladki Bahin Scheme e-KYC Deadline: All Extension Dates

The deadline kept getting pushed. Here is how it moved over time:

Extension RoundDeadline Date
Original DeadlineAround November 2025
First ExtensionDecember 31, 2025
Second ExtensionMarch 31, 2026
Final DeadlineApril 30, 2026

After April 30, the government drew a hard line. No more extensions. No new enrolments either.

80 Lakh Women Removed: The Real Impact

The beneficiary count has fallen sharply.

StatusCount
Initial Beneficiaries~2.46 crore
Removed After Deadline~80 lakh
Active Beneficiaries Now~1.66 crore

80 lakh is a big number. And not all of those were ineligible entries. Many genuine beneficiaries likely lost access simply because they could not navigate the e-KYC process in time.

The government’s position is that this cleanup saves public funds and improves transparency. The opposition, predictably, has raised questions about genuine beneficiaries being left out.

Both points have merit.

Who Keeps Getting the Benefit

Women who completed e-KYC before April 30, 2026 will continue receiving ₹1,500 per month as usual. Payments are unaffected for verified beneficiaries.

No new additions are being made to the list right now. The database stays as it is.

What This Means for Beneficiaries

If your e-KYC is done, you are fine. Keep your linked bank account active and make sure your Aadhaar details are up to date to avoid any payment failures down the line.

If you missed the deadline, there is currently no official process to re-enrol or appeal. The Women and Child Development Department under Minister Aditi Tatkare has not announced any fresh window.

Keep checking ladakibahin.maharashtra.gov.in for any new updates. Official statements from CM Devendra Fadnavis or Minister Tatkare would be the first place any future announcement would appear.

The Ladki Bahin Scheme e-KYC deadline has effectively reshaped who stays in this programme. For 1.66 crore verified women, the monthly support continues. For the 80 lakh who missed it, the door is closed for now.

Do you think the government should open one final re-verification window for genuine beneficiaries who missed the deadline? Share your thoughts in the comments.
