CBSE Revaluation 2026: Complete Guide to Fees, Dates, and Updated Application Process

Latest Update: CBSE post-result services are live from May 19, 2026. The window to apply for scanned answer sheets closes on May 22, 2026 at 11:59 PM. Do not miss this deadline.

I noticed a lot of confusion in student groups and forums after the Class 12 results dropped on May 13. Many students were surprised by their scores, especially with CBSE switching to the new On-Screen Marking (OSM) system this year. Digital evaluation is faster, but it is new, and students have every right to verify whether their paper was checked properly.

That is exactly what CBSE revaluation 2026 is for. It lets you request a scanned copy of your evaluated answer sheet, cross-check it yourself, and then apply for verification or re-evaluation if you spot a genuine issue. The process is sequential. You cannot skip straight to re-evaluation without first getting the scanned copy.

What Changed This Year

The fees have been slashed significantly. CBSE reduced them after students raised concerns about the OSM system. Here is the comparison:

ServiceOld FeeNew Fee (2026)
Scanned CopyRs. 700 per subjectRs. 100 per subject
Verification of MarksRs. 500 per subjectRs. 100 per subject
Re-evaluationRs. 100 per questionRs. 25 per question

And if your marks go up after re-evaluation, CBSE refunds every rupee you paid. That is a genuinely student-friendly policy.

One thing worth knowing upfront though: marks can go up, stay the same, or go down. The revised result is final either way. So do not apply blindly. Review the scanned copy first, check it against the official marking scheme, and only then decide.

Important: If your marks decrease after re-evaluation, that lower score becomes your official result. Apply only when you have a clear reason to.

Important Dates for CBSE Revaluation 2026

ActivityDates
Apply for Scanned CopyMay 19 to May 22, 2026
Apply for Verification and Re-evaluationMay 26 to May 29, 2026
Re-evaluation ResultsJune to July 2026

The deadline is May 22 for scanned copies. Do not wait for the last day. CBSE portals get heavy traffic near closing time and the board rarely grants extensions.

Who Can Apply

  • Students who appeared in CBSE Class 12 main exams 2026
  • Class 10 students (same portal, same fee structure)
  • Students from supplementary or Phase-2 exams can apply after their results are declared
  • Only theory papers are covered. Practicals and internal assessment marks are not part of this process

How to Apply: Step by Step

The entire process is online. No documents need to be uploaded or physically submitted.

Step 1: Get Your Scanned Answer Sheet (May 19-22)

Visit the official portal: cbseit.in/cbse/web/rchk/reeval.aspx

Enter your Roll Number, School Number, Date of Birth, and Admit Card ID. Select the subjects you want, pay Rs. 100 per subject, and download your receipt. Keep the application number safe.

Step 2: Actually Review the Sheet

This step matters more than people realize. Download the official CBSE marking scheme from cbse.gov.in the moment it is available. Go through your answer sheet question by question. Look for unchecked answers, wrong totaling, or marks not carried forward correctly. Note the exact question numbers.

Step 3: Apply for Verification or Re-evaluation (May 26-29)

Go back to the same portal. Select the specific questions, pay Rs. 100 for verification and Rs. 25 per question for re-evaluation, and submit. You will get a confirmation receipt.

Track your application status on the same portal under “Re-eval Status” or “Verification Status.”

Why This Actually Matters

Board percentages in India carry real weight. A few marks can affect your CUET rank, scholarship eligibility, or even minimum percentage criteria for government jobs and bank recruitment. The 75 percent or 90 percent thresholds that many schemes require are not just numbers on paper.

With the OSM system being new this year, there is a reasonable chance some papers have genuine checking errors. CBSE revaluation 2026 is the official mechanism to catch and correct those errors.

My Advice Before You Apply

Apply for the scanned copy right now if you are even slightly unsure about your marks. At Rs. 100 per subject, it costs almost nothing to take a look. But once you have the sheet, actually sit with it and compare it to the marking scheme. That comparison is the real work.

If you find something specific, apply for re-evaluation. If everything looks fine, at least you will have clarity and peace of mind. Applying without reviewing and just hoping for higher marks is not a great strategy, especially given that scores can decrease.

CBSE revaluation 2026 is a fair system. Use it wisely.
